North London based popcorn makers, Joe & Seph’s, launched an indulgent new range, Chocolate Popcorn Bites in Spring 2019 and White Chocolate & Raspberry Bites in January 2020. February 2020 saw the addition of Chocolate Popcorn Mini Eggs (RRP £3 per 60g bag and £4 per gift box), two pieces of delicious Salted Caramel Popcorn in a Miniature Milk Chocolate Easter Egg.
The first of their kind, the Mini Eggs marry decadent chocolate with Joe & Seph’s renowned gourmet caramel popcorn. Founder Joseph Sopher created the new chocolate popcorn eggs after many late nights experimenting in his kitchen. Joseph’s small team of pastry chefs air-pop ‘extra-large’ mushroom kernels, which are coated by hand in Joe & Seph’s unique salted caramel sauce; each piece of popcorn is individually placed in an egg-shaped cup of luxurious Milk Chocolate for a melt-in-the-mouth moment of pure indulgence, rounded off with a satisfying popcorn crunch!
As with all their products, the bites are handmade using only the finest natural ingredients, with an unerring attention to quality. Since founding Joe & Seph’s back in 2010 with his wife, Jackie, and sons, Adam and Paul, Joseph has wanted to create a range that is even more indulgent than the popcorn they’ve become celebrated for. Joseph says, “We’ve wanted to create a more decadent sweet treat for a while that’s different to our range of gourmet popcorn. I can’t wait for everyone to try them, though I must hazard a warning, they’re extremely moreish…”
£13 million line opens
A year after Japan-based Suntory Beverage & Food announced its £13m investment in Lucozade Ribena Suntory’s Coleford factory, the company’s COO, Carol Robert, pushed the button to launch its new energy and water-efficient production line.
Commenting at the time, Carol said: “The launch of this production line is significant for us and forms part of our ‘Growing for Good’ vision. It’s fantastic to have been able to invest £13m in this line and to deliver a 40 per cent reduction in the energy and water required to make each bottle. In doing so, we are making an important commitment to both the environment and our consumers.”
The high-speed bottling line fills 55,000 bottles an hour, enabling Lucozade Ribena Suntory to keep up with the demand for its drinks, including British favourites Lucozade and Ribena and popular lower-calorie options.
The Royal Forest Factory is at the heart of Lucozade Ribena Suntory’s UK operations and is already one of the most efficient factories under the Suntory brand. This investment from parent company Suntory Beverage & Food is in recognition of the UK factory’s status and reflects the business’ ambition to reduce its impact on the environment.
This investment also sets Lucozade Ribena Suntory up for future success as the additional capacity for bottle production allows the factory to evolve alongside consumer tastes. While Lucozade Ribena Suntory’s much-loved core drinks remain incredibly popular, this new line will provide flexibility for future innovation, particularly around new low-calorie options, which can now be delivered to UK consumers in a more sustainable way.
“This investment is a vote of confidence by Suntory Beverage & Food in our UK and Gloucestershire operations, ensuring our factory in Coleford continues to be a best-in-class facility for years to come,” Carol added.
